Fritillaria uva-vulpis (Fox grape fritillary), originating from northern Iraq, western Iran and southeastern Turkey, prefers a moisture-retaining soil and a sunny aspect, for example in a meadow.
The bell-like flowers of Fritillaria uva-vulpis are a beautiful purple brown-yellow, and flower in April/May. Bluebells and Fox grape fritillaries make lovely planting companions.
The loose bulbs of Fritillaria uva-vulpis are susceptible to drying out: plant them immediately. The bulbs can be stored for a short while in the fridge (frost free).
