Hyacinthoides hispanica, Spanish bluebell, is a very attractive full-flowering blue Spanish bluebell. Hyacinthoides hispanica is suitable for naturalising under trees or in grass. The Spanish bluebell is robust and readily forms clumps. The flowers are large – larger than those of Hyacinthoides non-scripta, the common Bluebell.

Hyacinthoides hispanica is native to Spain, Portugal and northern Africa. At De Warande, in our gardens, Hyacinthoides hispanica grows amongst Geum rivale (Water avens). They flower together and form a delightful duo! The Spanish bluebell also combines well with Old pheasant's eye (Narcissus poeticus) and with Drooping star of Bethlehem (Ornithogalum nutans).
